The results are in....

At Scrapability that is. And little ole me came third!!!!

Yay!!! Im really pleased, partly because I actually managed to stick to it, and complete all the challenges - I am usually really bad for starting a competition and then halfway through pulling out because I cant get the challenges done in time.

Here's my entry for round 4:

I went for something a little different with the title, and just traced around some pink paislee alphas I had. I actually quire like the result, I think it would look kinda cool over the top of some glimmer mist or crafty notions sprays.

Detail Shot:

And now for something different, some piccies of my beautiful Lily. Yesterday she went to the 2nd birthday party of her little friend Lincoln (that would be Con, according to Lily), she was so excited and put on her best party dress and shoes, and the entire way there she was clutching his present, adamant that she was the only one allowed to give it to him.

My beautiful little Butterfly, she loves getting her face painted, and waited patiently while the other kiddies got their faces done, and then jumped up excitedly screaming "my turn now":

Today we took her out to the beach for a bit of a play, and she's definetly my daughter she hates the sand! On the way home we stopped and she had a bit of a play in the park, and I was lucky enough to be able to snap this photo of Lil and Ian:

More Scrapability Sketches, a Reveal and a New Car.

Since my last post, I have managed to finish another 2 of the sketches put up for the Sketch the Scraps competition over at Scrapability Sketches.

Round 2, we had a choice of 2 sketches, or the bonus sketch which had added criteria which had to be met. So of course I decided to do the bonus sketch, and I actually had trouble meeting all the criteria, but I got there in the end.
I used the latest girl kit from What is Old is New, and apart from the alphas everything was included in the kit.

Close up:

Round 3, isn't actually due until Wednesday but since Lily was at my parents all weekend, I managed to get it done early.

Close up:

I love that little Deer stamp (can you tell, I used it on two layouts in a row hahaha), it's a Stampin Up one that I got from Alishia just the other day.

Last week I showed you a sneakie, well now I can show you the whole thing.
Over at Scraps of Us, there was a sketch competition and and the winner had their sketch showcased by the DT.

Here's the sketch:
And my take:

In other news on Saturday we bought a new car!! We have two cars at the moment and it is killing us trying to keep up with the regos, insurance, services etc, when the second car is just driven 2km up the road to the train station. So we decided we were going to sell that car and just keep the outlander as our family car, but then being me, I wondered if we could maybe trade in both cars and get a newer one - turns out you can!

So we have bought a 2009 Hyundai Tucson, we havent got it yet as there were none in the car yard, but it was being unloaded at the dock on Saturday so we have been advised that in about 2 weeks we should be able to get it.

Mine is white (I cant tell if the car in this photo is white or silver), I of course want it right now, but the only car that they had in the lot was a black one, and 1) I am stinggy and didnt want to pay extra for metallic paint, 2) black in the WA summer would just be too hot, and finally 3) you actually have to wash black/dark cars as you can see every bit of dirt on them, and I just cant see myself doing that hahaha!

Better go see what Lily is doing

Butterfly Crafts Reveal - November

The newest challenge is up on the Butterfly Crafts blog - so that means that I can share my layout.

Challenge 23 is all about what makes you happy:
I want you all to take a few minutes to think about the things that make you happy! I know we all have so many of them. Your challenge is to do a layout on the things that make you happy! It could be one thing that makes you happy or many. It could be as simple as your cup of coffee in the morning to the sweet smiles of your little children. Go for it! What makes you happy!

And here's my full layout:

Detail Shot (of more D-Lish goodness)

That's it for now :)

Some Scrappy Goodness

I havent updated my blog in a while, and there's been no reason apart from pure laziness!

I have a few full layouts I can share, and a couple of sneaks too.

Over at Enchanted there is a great competition running which is based upon Christmas Carols, the layouts however do not have to be Christmas themed.

Here is my entry for round one; we had to use the carol "All I want for Christmas (is my two front teeth)" as our inspiration, the words "all I want" had to appear either in the title or journalling, and we had to use two photos.

I chose to go with what I want for my beautiful Lily (the cj that I did the week before gave me the inspiration).

Close up:

I also managed to complete another one of the monthly challenges, this time we had to take inspiration from the book Animalia by Graeme Base

Here's the cover:

And my take on the challenge:
I was inspired by the frame of little pictures around the border of the cover, so I made some inchies (really I just covered some chipboard with some patterned paper) and layered my photo over the top.

I love this photo of Lily, she is a real 'little mummy' to all her babies (they arent dollies) and takes at least one with her wherever she goes.

Close up:

I have also managed to do the first Stuck?! sketch for the month of November: This was just using a combination of some stuff leftover from a What is Old is New kit, and a small kit I picked up from LSS a couple of months ago. I am determined to get through all the kits I keep buying and using for one layout and then not touching them again.

And here are a couple of sneakies, just because I know how much everyone loves a good sneakie!!

This one you will be able to see tomorrow on the Butterfly Crafts blog, and Ning site.

Another finally the last sneakie will be up on the Scraps of Us site, towards the end of the month (around the 20th I think). Blogger has decided that this one looks much better on it's side, and after trying to upload it the correct way a couple of times, I am going to agree with blogger - just this one time!

Enchanted Challenge and some more MLBOW

Over at Enchanted there are some great challenges running this month, one of them is to use one of the awesome kits that they put together and make something with it. I used the An Enchanting Little House kit (which sold out in a record time of like 24 hours), and made a door hanger for Lily's big girl room.
Apart from the tree (which is from My Little Bit of Whimsy), the acrylic backing and the ribbon everything else is from the kit.

Detail Shots:

I have a few more challenges to be uploaded for Enchanted, but I have to wait for some sun to take a photo of them.

More Grinning...

I had another layout win me a voucher for scrapping stash! I cant believe it, that's the third voucher in a week, and good timing too, as I mentioned in a previous post that I am not buying any more stash until after Christmas, but hey vouchers arent my money so they don't count!

This is the layout that won the sketch challenge over at Young Scrap Birds - if you're born in the 80's or 90's come check the site out, there's a great bunch of like minded girls over there.

Detail Shot:

It's of Lily and her Granma (Ian's mum) - they dont see each other all that often but Lily really does love spending time with her. That flower is another floral spray from D-Lish Scraps, you'll be seeing them on a few more of my layouts - as I love them!!

Lastly, here is a CJ from the swap running over at Scrapbooking Memories - this one was Jaimie's and the theme was My Dream. I went with what my dream is for Lily:

Detail Shots:

Well Im off to take my little Ballerina to dancing :)

November Challenge at Scraps of Us

My challenge for this month just went up over at Scraps of Us.

I decided that it would be fun to scraplift/use as inspiration someone elses layout, and when looking though the gallery, a layout of fellow design team member Michelle's, caught my eye.
Here's Michelle's layout:

And my layout, using hers as inspiration. I loved the paper layering and the position of the title so I went with that when creating my layout. A group shot of us in KL - well apart from me, someones got to be behind the camera.
Detail Shot:
Another awesome little pin from My Little Bit of Whimsy. Oh and excuse my awful handwriting, apparently one day I will regret not hndwriting more on my layout so I decided to put a teensy weensy little bit on this layout, let me tell you, right about now I am regretting that!

Winners are Grinners

Im so stoked, the last two weeks I have managed to snag myself two vouchers to online stores for winning challenges - just goes to show that actually entering challenges/competitions can actually pay off!

The first layout that won was done for the October Cyber Crop at Enchanted Scrapbooking. I actually only managed one layout for the entire cyber crop, so you can imagine how happy I was to find out that I had won. You had to use 3 photos, and either in the title or journalling the words in the garden had to appear.

And then just this morning I found out that I won round four of the Family Ties competition over at Mystical. I never shared this layout on here as my internet had been shaped at the time so it was painful enough trying to load it up to the forum, let alone on here.

For round 4 the criteria was 2 photos, the colours Kraft (my favourite hahaha), brown, teal and yellow, and it had to be about a friend/s. I chose to do it about my twin sister and I.

I never ever in a MILLION years expected to win, the amount of super talented ladies that were taking part in the competition and the quality of the layouts produced was amazing, but somehow I won.

Congrats to the awesomely talented Julie for being the overall winner (I hope she sees it on the forum before she sees it here - sorry if I spoil the surprise Julie).

It's actually funny that I won the vouchers, as I promised my husband that I wasnt going to buy anymore scrapping supplies (well apart from cardstock, I mean Kraft, double sided tape etc) before Christmas. But I didnt I never said that I wasnt going to spend vouchers!!!

My Challenge...

went up this afternoon at Scraps of Us. Check it out here.

Here's a look at my layout:

Detail Shots:

I made the branch/vine following the instructions from the very talented Julie. Have I mentioned before how much I love D-Lish Scraps? All the flowers/roses that are on my layout are the store - do yourself a favour and go and check the store out.

Some News and a Cyber Crop

Some of you may have noticed that I snuck a new logo onto my blog - if not I'm very happy to announce that I am now on the DT for Scraps of Us. Over the past three weeks, I have been taking part in a competition to help find some new members for the DT - I found out yesterday morning that I made the team and it was a struggle to keep my mouth shut until the announcement was made on the forum.

These are the layouts I completed for each of the 3 rounds:

ROUND 1: Criteria was that it had to be a layout about yourself, but the catch was you couldnt include a photo:

ROUND 2: Layout had to be of our greatest achievement, and also had to show case a technique (which we also had to provide instructions for). I actually just did a layout on the same topic for Butterfly Crafts, so instead of doing another one on me completing uni, I decided to pay tribute to my weightloss over the course of this year.

ROUND 3: We had to complete a layout for $5 or less - sounds easy, right? It's harder than you think when you add up just how much all the little things you put on a layout cost. I chose to do a minimalist style layout (not to save money, as I still charged myself for 2 sheets of patterned paper, but just to try something different).

I just want to say (for about the hundredth time), thanks to Vicki, Sam and Carly -for giving me this opportunity. Im also really excited to be working with the other new members of the DT - Chloe, Michelle, and Maria-Helena.

As if it wasnt exciting enough just making the DT, there is also a Cyber Crop this weekend, and we are all being thrown in the deep end and having to come up with a challenge (mine will go up on Sunday).

The theme for the CC is "GO GREEN" it's all about reducing, reusing and recycling. So if you have some time over the weekend, why dont you pop on over and join in the fun.

I have a few other layouts to share, but we have been 'shaped' so my internet is super slow - I will be back early next week to share some more.

Some Mystical Challenges

This month I decided to be a good little forum member, and join in some of the challenges for October - normally I run out of time or forget all about them - whoops.
So this month I made it my priority to get some done, and still with a couple weeks in the month, I may be able to get the last one done too.

Word Association Challenge by Sam:
Sam gave us a list of words (black, creepy crawly, splat, scary, white, transparent, fear, blood, dark and, skeleton), and we had to do a layout based on these words/themes. How could I go past Twilight!?!

Detail Shot:
That little floral spray is from D-Lish Scraps - check them out, so much beautiful stuff in the store.
This layout was completed using the September Girl What is Old is New kit.

The next challenge was a sketch challenge by Ellen:
And here's my take - slowly working my way through the photos from our Kuala Lumpur holiday.

Detail Shots:

A beautiful little mushroom button from My Little Bit of Whimsy.

Wednesday morning saw another challenge go up in the Family Ties competition. This week we had to use brights (hot pink, orange, teal and black), flowers and layering, and do a layout about parents, grandparents or aunties and uncles.

I chose to do a layout of Lily with her Nannie and Ya-ya (my parents) - yep, that's another KL photo.

Detail Shot:
Another little mushroom button from My Little Bit of Whimsy - I love them! Might have to stop using them though - what am I going to do when I run out?!
